Layar has been designed to leverage novel deep learning neural networks that provide significant advantages to addressing complex natural language processing (NLP) challenges. Our software has demonstrated an outstanding ability to maneuver question answer capabilities in both context-free and contextual long form text, which is instrumental to its success in retrieving data.
Why is this important? Traditional NLP algorithms use rule sets and ontologies to explicitly identify the word “sharp” in text, whereas Layar’s deep learning text analytics use the context of the word to differentiate between its various uses and meanings. “Sharp” is no longer just “sharp” — it can mean “pointy”, “keen”, “musically off pitch”, etc.
Applied broadly, the text analytics capabilities of Layar can be leveraged to understand the meaning behind a question asked by a user, and apply this logic to efficiently scan large volumes of text corpora to highlight pertinent data. Additionally, Layar can leverage this ability to identify novel terms or phrases that may emerge as language evolves (ie, “sharp” is also a compliment for someone dressing well). Trying to leverage this same capability with traditional NLP algorithms may take months to discover, and would require a significant contribution of time and resources.
Finally, deep learning models with the ability to ascertain subtleties in natural language require substantial computational power for pre-training and ingestion of novel texts, which can be expensive if a company attempts to build and train algorithms from scratch. With Layar’s hybrid GPU/CPU architecture and GPU Smart Switching capability, deep learning training and model utilization runs seamlessly and efficiently. We have over a decade of deep learning expertise available to design and deploy deep learning analytic software, and we are proud of the level of intelligence and power baked into this product.
We’ve paid considerable attention to how the Data Fabric addresses data storage, linear scalability, metadata distribution, and the interconnectivity that supports the scale and consistency of data present within each instance. We have not designed Layar as a multi-tenant application, which means users can feel secure knowing that their data is not shared with other organizations, as each company is hosted on entirely separate servers. We do not index documents, and users acquire insights exclusively from the data they are authorized to view.
